The Purpose of WIOA
WIOA delivers a comprehensive suite of workforce development resources and activities, connecting job seekers with opportunities for training, education, and career support to achieve success in the labor market. By bridging skilled individuals with businesses, WIOA strengthens our national economy on multiple levels:
1
National Level
Helps the U.S. compete globally with a skilled workforce supporting thriving industries.
2
State Level
Aligns with state-specific goals to bolster local economies and address regional workforce needs.
3
Business Level
Equips businesses with resources to train, hire, and retain quality employees.
4
Individual Level
Supports skill-building and provides pathways to high-paying jobs or post-secondary education.
How WIOA is Funded and Organized
Funded federally and managed through local WIOA Service Providers, WIOA’s impact starts at the state level and extends through regional boards, schools, and community organizations. Here’s how it works:
State Planning
Each state submits a detailed plan to the federal government, outlining labor market trends, regional goals, and workforce strategies.
Regional Implementation
Regional Workforce Development Boards draft localized plans to support state goals, collaborating with schools, community-based organizations, and training providers.
School & Local Programs
At the ground level, our school’s WIOA programs feed into broader regional, state, and national goals, impacting students and local industries directly.
